Photographed at Mesa Arch, Utah, in February 2014, this work was created during my first overseas photographic journey. Standing there on a crisp winter morning, waiting for the first light to break across the landscape, I had a strong sense that I was witnessing something extraordinary. The arch became both a frame and a threshold, opening onto the immense scale, silence, and drama of the American Southwest. Looking back now, the image feels especially significant to me, not only for what it captures, but for what it represents: an early moment of ambition, curiosity, and the beginning of something much larger.
