PHOTOGRAPHY EXPEDITIONS
Small-group photography journeys led by Mitchell Burns, built around access, changing light and enough time to make the picture.

CURRENT EXPEDITIONS
Two small-group journeys currently in development.
SOUTH AUSTRALIA · IKARA–FLINDERS RANGES
Six photographers. Six days. The Flinders from the inside, outside and above — built around red country, station landscapes, wildlife and light.
TROPICAL NORTH QUEENSLAND · PORT DOUGLAS
Five days moving between rainforest, coast, wildlife and first light across Cairns, Palm Cove and Port Douglas.
THE APPROACH
These are not classroom-style workshops with a rigid timetable. Each expedition is designed around the place itself — where the light is likely to work, what the weather is doing, what wildlife appears and how much time a scene actually deserves.
Mitchell works alongside a deliberately small group in the field, sharing the practical decisions behind composition, timing, lenses and light while leaving each photographer room to make the experience their own.
SMALL GROUPS
Maximum groups of six keep the pace flexible and leave enough room to work a location properly rather than moving on as soon as the camera comes out.
PLACE
The route follows the landscape, wildlife, access and the times of day that give each destination its strongest photographic potential.
PROCESS
The guidance is practical and field-based: composition, light, timing, lenses, decision-making and responding when conditions change.
