Six days on Tasmania’s east coast.
The outline below follows our latest discussions with the local operator. Our main photography locations and accommodation bases are selected; stops, activities and exact session times remain flexible until the tour is fully costed and confirmed.
Across the north-east to the coast
Meet our local guide and private transport in Launceston, then travel east through Scottsdale, Derby and Pyengana. Possible stops include Pyengana Dairy, St Columba Falls and the Pub in the Paddock, depending on arrival times and the light. Check in at St Helens; an evening coastal session is possible if timing permits.
First light on the granite
An early start for Binalong Bay’s orange-lichen granite, pale sand and shifting colour in the shallows. We’ll work on composition, foregrounds, water movement and long exposures, with a slower middle of the day for rest and image discussion. Return to the coast for changing evening light.
Follow the weather, return for the photograph
Another dedicated field day exploring The Gardens and neighbouring coves. We’ll revisit the strongest scenes under different conditions, photograph smaller details and develop panoramic and telephoto compositions. The exact locations will be chosen around weather, light and conditions on the day.
Wildlife, forest and the southern coast
Head south toward Freycinet, with an East Coast Natureworld wildlife visit under consideration. Depending on time, we may also photograph Douglas-Apsley National Park, Bicheno’s Blowhole and The Gulch, or Friendly Beaches. The Lobster Shack and Devil’s Corner are possible food stops. These are choices, not a promise to rush through them all. Overnight at Freycinet.
Hazards Beach and Wineglass Bay
Start with Freycinet’s granite headlands and the Hazards range. A proposed Freycinet Aqua Express transfer would take us across Great Oyster Bay to Hazards Beach, with an approximately 2 km walk across the isthmus to Wineglass Bay. Boat availability, walking arrangements and weather are still to be confirmed. Further photography and a final late-light session round out the day.
One final journey through Tasmania
Return to Launceston via the Fingal Valley and Campbell Town, with stops where flight schedules and conditions allow. Guests make their own onward flight arrangements once our final departure transfer time is confirmed.
This is an indicative photography itinerary. Coastal conditions, wildlife, park access and transport schedules may change the order or selection of sessions. The boat transfer, wildlife activity and suggested food stops are not yet confirmed inclusions.

Photographers who want more time in the field.
Open to enthusiastic beginners through to experienced photographers. The emphasis is practical: reading light, choosing positions, working efficiently in changing conditions, improving composition and leaving with stronger photographs rather than sitting through a classroom-heavy workshop.
The route and proposed accommodation bases are now identified for 1–6 April 2027. We are awaiting the final ground-package cost, accommodation and transport confirmation, meal inclusions, the feasibility of a dedicated wildlife experience and any Freycinet boat component. This remains a photography-led itinerary and may change with conditions.
Registering interest is free and does not create a booking or payment obligation. People on the interest list will be contacted as soon as prices, inclusions and booking details are finalised.
