What the project needed

Help explain the connection between what happens in Great Barrier Reef catchment areas on land and the health of the reef, making a complex environmental relationship understandable through a personal field story.

How Mitchell approached it

Mitchell connected the conservation issue to his own perspective as a landscape photographer and former miner, using the trip to show how environments that appear separate are part of the same system.
