Stockmans rest

When I saw the weather forecast saying a cold snap is coming with chances of snow I knew this would be my only chance to catch this bucket list shot. I drove 5 hours straight to try capture sunset but did not get the light I really wanted so I stayed the night in Mansfield and then the next morning I headed straight back up hoping that the weather would be clear enough for sunrise .

On arrival there was thick cloud but I knew I just had to wait I could feel something was going to happen. Standing around in the cold my hopes were slowly diminishing but it wasn’t until I saw the clouds lifting out of the valley and right where the sun was rising the clouds parted and for a brief one minute, I got the Lightshow I wanted and the whole scene was illuminated in golden light , I couldn’t believe what was happening in front of me !!

It truly is moments like this that keep us photographers coming back for more ! It’s the chase , the anticipation, the hope that everything that is out of your control lines up somehow and your vision comes alive right in front of you.
